Models and policies
Location: Modelli e policy.
The catalog shows public names available in your scope. A name may be the real upstream identifier or a public alias chosen by Netter. switchyard is reserved for intelligent routing. There is no mandatory fixed capability-tier classification.
Choose a model
Check published capabilities, protocols and limits. A text model does not gain image support merely by accepting a similar request format. Tool calling, structured output, reasoning and audio require compatible mappings.
In software, use the exact name returned by GET /v1/models, including any namespace with /. Renaming an alias requires updating client configuration.
What Switchyard does
With model: "switchyard", the service evaluates approved targets, required capabilities, reasoning effort and the maximum estimated cost. A classifier helps select an eligible target under Netter's configured rules.
This evaluation does not guarantee a correct answer or the lowest final cost. Classifier and answer usage are separate and both consume credit when completed. A completed classification remains charged even if the following answer fails.
The portal may show selected target, requested/effective effort and related usage. Continuations depending on context or signed artifacts stay bound to a compatible target.
Policies and limits
Policies constrain allowed models, default model, PII and maximum request cost across the supported Netter, reseller, company, group and user scopes. Your role determines what you can edit. Higher-level restrictions remain effective even when a subordinate scope grants broader access.
Allowing all models also allows future additions within the other constraints. Use an explicit list for individual approval.
Missing or unavailable model
Possible causes include key permissions, company policies, a disabled provider, a missing protocol mapping, expired prices/exchange rates, unsupported capabilities or a renamed alias. Contact your administrator with the public name, operation and time, without credentials.
Administrators should read Providers and models and Switchyard and policies.
